Causes of infertility
in females: o Ovulation Dysfunction (Amenorrhea) o Fallopian Tube Disorder (e.g. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) o Endometriosis: The presence and growth of functioning endometrial tissue in places other than the uterus that often results in severe pain and infertility. o Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS): Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is marked by amenorrhea, hirsutism, obesity, infertility, and ovarian enlargement and is usually initiated by an elevated level of luteinizing hormone, androgen, or estrogen; called also polycystic ovarian disease, polycystic ovary disease, Stein-Leventhal syndrome. o Antiphospholipid Syndrome: Antiphospholipid syndrome is an autoimmune disorder of coagulation which causes thrombosis in both arteries and veins, as well as recurrent miscarriage; called also Hughes syndrome. |
