causes of runny nose: o Allergy o Chronic Rhinitis o Post-Nasal Drip o Cold weather or sudden temperature changes o Flu, Common Cold o Food Allergy o Sinus Infection o Viral infection o Injury/trauma to the nose o Medications o Nasal polyps o Consumption of spicy foods o Enlarged adenoids o Environmental irritants o Exposure to tobacco smoke o Foreign bodies in the nose (especially in children) o Vasomotor rhinitis: A hypersensitive reaction to various potentially irritating stimuli (e.g. strong odors, air pollution, or sudden temperature changes). o Hay Fever (An acute allergic reaction to pollen; also called pollinosis) o Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV): A paramyxovirus that is responsible for severe respiratory diseases (as bronchopneumonia and bronchiolitis) in children and especially in infants. o Rebound rhinorrhea : Nasal sprays or drops containing vasoconstrictors may cause rebound rhinorrhea, if used longer than 3 consecutive days
